About the position

The Public Works department consists of an Internal and Field Service. You will strengthen our Field Service, where you, together with colleagues, are responsible for the maintenance and repair of public spaces: squares, sidewalks, forests, playgrounds, residential streets, and shopping areas. You will mainly work outdoors and see the direct results of your efforts every day.

  • Municipality of Drimmelen
  • Regular vacancy (Temporary with prospect of permanent)
  • MBO

Placement date June 9, 2026

Closing date June 21, 2026

A workday for you as an all-round field service employee/truck driver

From the municipal yard, you will go out to resolve malfunctions and reports in public spaces. For example, you will clear blockages in the sewage system and ensure that street furniture such as benches, waste bins, and traffic signs remain clean, intact, and safe. You will also empty waste bins in public areas.

When paving has subsided, you will carefully repair it, making the area safe and accessible again. During these activities, you will use various machines, hand tools, and vehicles. Additionally, you may be deployed as a truck driver, carefully transporting (green) waste from the recycling center, the municipal yard, or from the neighborhood to the processor. This task usually forms the main component of the position.

In the afternoon, you will take on various green maintenance tasks. You will prune hedges and shrubs or work with the brush cutter where necessary. Or you might spend an afternoon at the recycling center. In some periods, seasonal tasks are also part of your work, such as leaf blowing or clearing forest and hedge plantations.

At the end of the day, you will look ahead to tomorrow’s tasks, for example by preparing materials or checking vehicles and tools. Throughout the year, you will also be available for emergency services. These are on-call duties required of you for a few weeks per year. In winter, you will contribute to combating slipperiness by gritting and clearing snow, ensuring that roads, cycle paths, and pavements remain safely passable. A flexible attitude is desired for this.

Approximately once every six weeks, you will work Saturday shifts at the Recycling Center. There, you will be the friendly face of the municipality: you weigh waste, process payments, and supervise the correct disposal of materials. In this way, you not only contribute to a tidy and safe public space but also to a positive experience for residents.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a practical, versatile, and reliable colleague who enjoys working outdoors, maintains an overview, and knows how to get things done. You feel responsible for a tidy, safe, and well-maintained living environment.

You are someone who:

  • is handy and technically skilled and enjoys working with machines, tools, and vehicles;
  • values order, neatness, and safety, both outdoors, at the recycling center, and at the yard;
  • can fix minor defects or malfunctions independently;
  • is customer-oriented and friendly towards residents, e.g., at the Recycling Center;
  • is flexibly deployable, also during emergencies and ice/snow control;
  • can work well with others but also perfectly fine independently;
  • thinks proactively and plans ahead to ensure work proceeds safely and efficiently;
  • Possession of a BE & C driving license is a plus.

In short: we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive all-rounder who wants to make a difference every day for a clean, safe, and well-organized public space.

Our team consists of colleagues of various ages. We work hard, have humor, and address each other when necessary.

Why work with us?

Working with us means choosing a varied job outdoors, where no day is the same. You will join a close-knit, enthusiastic, and committed team that supports each other and together ensures a clean and safe living environment. We give you space and trust to take responsibility, contribute ideas, and further develop yourself. And perhaps the best part: your work is directly visible in the municipality. Every day you see the result of your efforts reflected in a pleasant, well-maintained, and well-functioning public space.

What do we offer?

  • A salary of up to €3,579 gross per month (scale 5, in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Municipalities, reference date July 1, 2026), depending on knowledge, education, and experience, based on a 36-hour work week.
  • You will receive an individual choice budget (IKB) of 17.05% that you accrue monthly over your gross salary. The IKB can be used for a study not funded by the municipality, the purchase of extra leave hours, or you can choose to have it paid out (monthly).
  • Pleasant collaboration in a small-scale municipality where employees truly know each other and communication lines are short.
  • Opportunities for personal development and training.
  • Employment conditions according to the Collective Labor Agreement for Municipalities.
  • You will receive an employment contract for a period of one year, with the intention to convert it to an indefinite period upon good performance.

Will you be our new colleague?
